Hi Brian, I cannot seem to do sit-ups without getting stomach muscle cramps after. What exercises would u recommend for achieving a flatter stomach that are suitable for someone who had a hysterectomy about 20 years ago? Thanks, Patricia from WA.
Thank you for your question, it's a really good one. I’m glad to say this is an easy fix for you. Sit-ups, or crunches, tend to squash the abdominal region and with a history of surgery in this area the muscles can tend to contract as a form of protection. What I want you to do is focus on lengthening and strengthening your abdominal area. To do this, I've put together a video which I’d like you to watch (and follow) as it will be helpful for you and not cause the discomfort you’ve been experiencing.
It's 4 easy to follow movements you can do anywhere. The focus is on control, so please take your time with the movements and concentrate on using your abdominal muscles.
