Do you suffer from afternoon hunger pangs or cravings? Don’t worry, we do too! Which is why we’ve asked our resident health and wellbeing expert Susie Burrell to suggest a healthy yet satisfying snack that caters for all types of dietary preferences. These awesome bites can be made quickly on a Sunday evening, and enjoyed as the perfect snack throughout the week – yum! :)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 5 medjool dates
  • 1 tablespoon natural organic honey
  • 1 scoop Organic Vegan Protein (Choc or Vanilla taste great!)
  • 1 tablespoon raw organic cacao powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons organic coconut oil 

Method

  1. Combine ingredients in a high speed food processor until a grainy consistency is achieved (gradually add in nuts or more coconut oil as needed).
  2. Grab small handfuls of the mixture and roll into snack sized balls.
  3. Place in the fridge for 2 hours.

Hi Claire, thanks for your question. Instead of organic coconut oil you could use healthy plant fats (olive oil, avocado oil, macadamia nut oil, etc. Apparently avocado oil is especially good if you'd prefer something without a strong taste of its own. :)

These sound great! I wondered did you have any ideas on substitutes you could use instead of the organic coconut oil?
