How to Claim

HIF Australia

Making a health insurance claim at HIF is as easy as falling off a log (only far less painful). In fact, the toughest bit is choosing from our host of convenient ways to make your claim – via our HIF Member mobile app, by email or instantly with eClaiming for Extras services, or direct via HIF for hospital and medical claims (see below). In any case, it’s quick and easy. You’ll have your rebate in no time, and we offer some of the most competitive benefits in Australia.

Extras Claims

For Extras Cover, there are four ways you can claim:

  • Claim on the spot: You can claim instantly for Extras services using your HIF member card. Simply swipe it through the e-terminal at your health service provider and your benefits will be deducted from the fee automatically. You then just need to pay any additional out-of-pocket expenses (if there are any). To find your nearest Extras provider with eClaiming facilities, please visit the HICAPS website. If your provider doesn't offer an eClaiming facility, you can still fast-track your claim by choosing one of the methods below.
  • Claim online at a time that suits you:

Our online Member Centre gives you access to a range of services to help manage your policy with the click of a mouse, including lodging an Extras claim online. Even better, you’ll instantly see the estimated benefit payable! Before you get started, you'll just need to ensure that your provider's fees are paid in full before uploading your receipts.

  • Fast-track your claim by our HIF Member app or email: Did you know that paid Extras claims can be submitted via our new HIF Member mobile app, or via email, courtesy of our Fast-Track system? To Fast-Track your claim, simply complete a claim form (you can type straight into this form and save your typed data) and attach your itemised accounts and receipts, then email the documentation to us at claims@hif.com.au
*Important, please note: Only Extras claims can be submitted via the HIF Member app or Fast-Track and all invoices must be paid in full at the time of service.

  • Claim by mail: You can also submit your Extras claims by mail. Just download a claim form, attach the relevant accounts and post it to us at: HIF, GPO Box X2221, Perth, WA 6000.
