HIF is now offering members access to Kieser Centres

We're delighted to announce that as of 1 October 2021, we'll cover the cost of the following Kieser programs: Hip Osteoarthritis Program, Knee Osteoarthritis Program and Spinal Program.

Kieser provides tailored physiotherapy and supervised exercise programs to support people who are suffering from chronic conditions, including hip and knee osteoarthritis and spinal issues.

Other services provided at Kieser centres outside the above programs, maybe be covered under your normal Extras policy.  Please refer to your Physiotherapy limit or contact us for further details.

If you’ve been an HIF member with Hospital cover for at least 12 months and fit HIF’s and Kieser’s eligibility requirements - these treatment programs could be a great choice for you.

Kieser’s overall goal is to prevent or delay serious and painful hip, knee, and spinal surgeries through regular physical therapy over a 12-or 18-week period. Their treatment plans help those whose conditions are seriously impacting their everyday life.

What is Kieser?

Kieser Australia is a network of integrated physiotherapy, rehabilitation and strength training clinics located in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

What do the programs entail?

Kieser programs are 12 to 18 weeks long and combine physiotherapy and supervised exercise. Depending on the program that is suitable for you, the exercises will target and isolate the impacted muscles associated with the pre-diagnosed condition.

Why has HIF partnered with Kieser?

We've partnered with Kieser to provide our east coast members, who are suffering from knee, hip or spinal issues, access to alternative non-surgical treatment programs that are designed to help, prevent, or delay surgery.

Where are the Kieser centres located?

Kieser is predominantly Victorian based with a few clinics in NSW, QLD and TAS very soon. For a full list of clinic locations, please visit the Kieser website.

The listed programs have been designed with the primary intention to prevent surgery, reduce pain levels and improve mobility, avoid or reduce rehabilitation (if surgery does proceed) and to provide clients with a long-term self-management program.

Eligibility criteria is present for members looking to access Kieser treatment programs:

Access to Kieser treatment programs is available to members who have access to a Kieser clinic and meet the following eligibility criteria:

HIF eligibility criteria:

  • To qualify, you must be an HIF Health Insurance member and have held hospital cover for 12 months or longer and must not have enrolled in another HIF funded chronic disease management program for the same condition in the previous 12 months.

Kieser eligibility criteria:

How does Kieser differ from other physio and rehab clinics?

Kieser clinics are equipped with strength training machines designed in Switzerland and manufactured to the highest quality in Germany. The equipment can isolate and target specific muscle groups for maximum effectiveness for functional improvement.
