After the events postponement due to dangerous weather and surf conditions earlier in May, event one of the HIF Masters & Women’s presented by World Surfaris will resume this weekend with Surfing Queensland’s official forecaster Coastalwatch Plus predicting a favourable South East swell for the duration of this weekend’s competition.

With a late entry into the opening event of the series, Coolum’s Jaleesa Vincent will also be looking to capitalize on recent form after finishing runner up at the coveted Rip Curl Grom Search International final in Brazil. Jaleesa will have her eyes set on improving last year’s overall third place finish for the HIF Masters & Women’s series and that all important 2016 Roxy Pro Trial Wildcard.

“This will be my first time competing since returning home from the Ripcurl Grom search International final back in Brazil so it will be a good opportunity to keep the momentum I’ve got moving forward into this event, especially with the Roxy Pro Wildcard up for grabs,” said Jaleesa.

Jaleesa narrowly missed out on last year's Roxy Pro Trials Wildcard after finishing third in last year's Open Women's series ratings.

After receiving a taste for representing Queensland back to the Australian Surf Masters last year, Terry Landsberg (Caloundra, QLD) will be again looking to secure his spot back on the Queensland team for a second consecutive year.

“Competitive surfing among the boys in the over 40’s and over 45’s divisions is still at a high level with heated rivalry,” said Terry.

“Along with the strong presence of competition among those division in the HIF Masters & Women’s series also is a strong social aspect. We’re all mates competing against mate at the end of the day and it’s another great opportunity for us to maintain our ability and stay fit,” Terry continued.

Doyle sisters Amiya and Brodie (Coolangatta, QLD) will also be among those looking to etch their names in the list of selected athletes to represent Queensland at this year’s Australian Surf Masters after finishing in top spots on last year’s Queensland series ratings.

As added value to this year’s series, HIF have put $100 up for grabs for the ‘Wave of the Weekend’ for both male and female surfers.

The two-event series will crown Queensland Masters State Champions across the O/35, O/40, O/45, O/50, O/55 and O/60 Men’s divisions as well as female competitors across the Open Women’s and O/35 divisions.

The HIF Masters & Women’s series offers the exclusive qualification pathway for competitors aiming for selection into the Queensland Surfing Team set to compete at the Australian Open Surf Masters Titles.

Queensland’s Open Women’s champion will receive a coveted spot in the trials of the 2016 WSL World Tour Roxy Pro event at Snapper Rocks.

The HIF Masters and Women’s series presented by World Surfaris is proudly supported by, HIF, World Surfaris, Coastalwatch Plus, Australian Skin Cancer Clinics, Surfing Life Magazine, the Queensland Government, and Surfing Queensland.
