What is the difference between 'general dental' and 'major dental'?

The term General Dental refers to routine dental treatments such as oral exams, cleaning, the removal of plaque, minor fillings, bleaching, x-rays, and bi-maxillary mouthguards. All of the items covered by our SmartTeeth program are considered General Dental.

In comparison, the term Major Dental refers to more complex procedures, such as the surgical removal of wisdom teeth, orthodontics/braces, extractions, dentures, crowns and bridges.

If you have received a quote from your dentist for a particular set of item numbers and would like a benefit estimate from HIF, please call our Contact Centre on 1300 13 40 60 and one of our consultants will be happy to provide that for you.

Alternatively, you can email a copy of your dental quote to hello@hif.com.au and you should receive a response with your benefit estimate within five working days.
