HIF is the first and only Private Health Insurance Fund in Australia to be certified Carbon Neutral by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI).
We asked CRI to analyse our business and calculate our carbon footprint (i.e. the amount of greenhouse gas that HIF and its products are responsible for emitting into the atmosphere).
CRI then suggested ways in which we could reduce our carbon footprint and the remaining emissions we have offset through the purchase of carbon abatement credit.
As a result, we chose to support a very worthy West Australian carbon abatement project (run by the South Metropolitan Regional Council) that recovers recyclable waste and prevents it from ending up in landfill. We believe that it has a corporate social responsibility to ensure its business is environmentally sustainable into the future and that all of its members will benefit from a healthier environment.
