What if … we helped members get a better night’s sleep?

At HIF, we recognise sleep as one of the three pillars of health – along with diet and exercise.

It’s why today, we’re announcing two new partnerships aimed at educating and helping our members get a better night’s sleep.

Bringing a new baby into the world is a magical experience – but it can also be overwhelming.

To support members on their parenthood journey, we’ve partnered with Nourish Baby, Australia’s only accredited1 provider of online antenatal and early parenting education and support.

Established in 2012, Nourish Baby helps parents enjoy a healthy pregnancy, positive labour and birth and early parenting success.

Members who hold a HIF Domestic Hospital product that includes pregnancy and birth cover, will be eligible to receive immediate access to Nourish Baby’s online learning hub, fully funded by HIF.

Following the birth of their baby, they will also have access to a series of personalised sleep and settling telehealth sessions delivered by qualified early parenting consultants.

Knowing that information can be powerful, we’ve also teamed up with SleepSpace, an online sleep improvement tool which will give eligible HIF members access to:

  • Accurate sleep tracking
  • Relaxations, meditations and smart light
  • Deep sleep stimulating sounds
  • Adaptive sound machine
  • Smart wake up alarm clock
  • Integration with wearables like Oura, Whoop and more …
  • 24/7 support from Dr Snooze and live coaches

SleepSpace is a service fully funded by HIF for the first 500 eligible HIF members who sign up, no matter your level of cover (18+, active policies only). Members will need a smart phone to download the app.

Many health conditions can affect sleep, and some of them are found more often in individuals who are overweight or obese. Sleep loss has also been linked to over-eating and weight gain.

That’s where our partner, Prima Health Solutions2, can help. Prima's Healthy Weight For Life offers comprehensive weight management programs fully funded by HIF for eligible members with heart health risk factors, knee or hip osteoarthritis or type 2 diabetes.

The announcement of our new partnerships follows the results of HIF’s inaugural Sleep Index Survey, which found most Australians are in sleep deficit – especially on workdays. While nearly two in three Australians prioritise sleep, few are very consistent with their bedtime routine.

Chief Executive Office Justin James said over the next 12 months, HIF would continue to help members learn more about the importance of sleep and explore all pathways to better health outcomes.

“Sleep is intrinsically linked to mental as well as physical health,” Mr James said.

“Through our Sleep Eazzzy with HIF program, we will continue to look at ways to help our members get a better night’s sleep through products, services and other initiatives.”
