HIF Managing Director Graeme Gibson today announced that all HIF Members with private hospital insurance, except for overseas visitors on Visitor Saver cover*, will be eligible for treatment resulting from COVID-19 at no extra cost, regardless of what’s listed as included or excluded on their policy.
“All of our Members have been or will be impacted by COVID-19 in some way, and many are already going through very tough times”, said Mr Gibson.
“Because of this, we’ve implemented several support measures we believe will relieve the burden a little including covering COVID-19 treatment to all levels of Hospital Cover, postponing our premium increase for six months, and introducing a new policy suspension option.”
“Members who need to claim for medical treatment resulting from, or triggered by, COVID-19 just need to have served their two-month waiting period for ‘General Hospitalisation’ first.”
