HIF has been named the first ever Green Health Insurer of the Year in the Finder Green Awards.

The Finder Green Awards, which were held in Sydney on 8 June, recognise businesses championing sustainability and paving the way for a greener future.

Entrants were judged on greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage and waste avoiding landfill, as well as a selection of industry-specific criteria.
HIF was commended for its strong carbon offsetting program and low overall emissions.

HIF CEO Justin James said he was delighted HIF had been recognised for doing its bit to protect the planet.

“At HIF, we believe in actually doing the right thing – by our members, by the community and by the planet,” James said. “To be recognised like this among like-minded organisations is a real honour.”

HIF was Australia’s first carbon neutral health fund, as certified by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) on 25 September, 2008.
