Today we’d like to give a little shout out to our Chief Risk Officer Belinda Goosen who was named among the top two Chief Risk Leaders for 2023 by the Risk Management Institute of Australia.

The RMIA Risk Awards – which took place in Adelaide last night - recognise outstanding leadership in risk management for both the public and private sector.

The Australian Chief Risk Leader of the Year is an individual who has been peer reviewed as driving excellence and influencing risk outcomes across an organisation and who has contributed to the development and advancement of the risk profession more broadly.

Belinda’s role is to protect the HIF community from unwanted risks and to build an internal culture that has the resilience to always do the right thing for our members.

Prior to moving to Australia, she was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young South Africa, advising multiple companies on all things risk related.

Belinda may not have taken out the top prize last night but she’s a winner in our eyes – just ask her team:

“Belinda is a professional who excels in her role as a CRO. She willingly shares her expertise with her direct team as well as the extended organisation. It is through her passion that she also inspires all on a daily basis. She is not only accountable for all that her role encompasses but regularly goes above and beyond to support the needs of the entire organisation.”

“Belinda, you lead by example at HIF and set a tone of highlighting the importance of risk management within decision making. The Risk Compliance and Conduct Team has grown and developed our skills and capabilities under your leadership. You were a worthy nominee for the award.”
